I have the honour to forward a letter
from the Director of Public Works and two tracings embodying
a scheme for the improvement of thoroughfares in Kowloon which
I submit for your favourable consideration. This scheme is in
my opinion comprehensive and well planned and in view of the
expansion of Kowloon in the near future its early adoption is
very desirable.
2.
I have already entered into negotiations
with the lot-holders whose property it will be necessary to
resume in accordance with the terms of Mr. Chatham's letter
and the sum of $2,500 has been paid to the Land Investment
Company for the surrender of a portion of lot 1087. I now ask
your authority for this expenditure.
3.
I also request your permission to incur
a further expenditure of $20,160 which I calculate will be
the amount of compensation payable to the owners of lots 1012,
1013, 1014, and 1015 for the resumption of various portions
of their properties.
